Body Styles, Trim Levels and Options

The 2012 Volvo XC60 luxury crossover is available in four trim levels: the 3.2, 3.2 AWD, T6 AWD and the T6R-Design AWD. Standard equipment on the base 3.2 includes 17-inch alloy wheels, foglamps, a power driver seat with memory functions, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, cruise control, City Safety, Bluetooth, steering-wheel-mounted audio controls and an eight-speaker CD/MP3 stereo with satellite and HD radio and USB and auxiliary audio inputs.

The 3.2 AWD model offers many of the same features as well as the electronically controlled all-wheel drive system, a 6 speed automatic transmission, roof rails and Home Safe & Approach lighting.

The T6 model adds the turbocharged 300-hp engine, all-wheel drive, 18-inch alloy wheels, privacy glass, leather upholstery and a power passenger seat. The 3.2 model is eligible for a Premium package that adds the T6′s additional interior accouterments, and both models can be equipped with a few other packages.

The T6R model offers Volvo drivers a 325-hp Race tuned ending, leather wrapped steering wheel and gearshift, active bending xenon lights, sport pedals, leather upholstery and 20 inch “Cratus” wheels wrapped in Pirelli tires.

Additional Features and Packages

Additional options for all trim offers leather interior, power passenger seating, cargo cover, power tail gate and tinted rear windows. Some additional technology features include Homelink, keyless drive, park assist (front and rear), Volvo Navigation with Real Time Traffic and a 12 speaker audio system with a DVD player and USB connectivity. A Climate package is also available and offers heated from seats, a heated windshield, headlamp washers and a rain sensor as well as Volvo’s Interior Air Quality System.

Safety

Rollover-sensing stability control, antilock brakes with brake assist, front-seat side airbags, side curtain airbags and whiplash-reducing front seats are all standard on the 2012 Volvo XC60. Also standard is City Safety, which can reduce or avoid a low-speed frontal impact by applying the vehicle’s brakes without driver intervention. Hill Descent Control is standard on all-wheel-drive models. Other safety options include a lane departure warning system, a driver alert system, a heartbeat monitor that can detect intruders inside the vehicle and a collision warning/braking system.

Interior Design and Special Features

The thin-panel center stack – which comes with metallic trim as standard and real oak wood trim as an option — combines with the optional two-tone upholstery giving the Volvo XC60′s cabin an elegance touch. The front seats are supportive and comfortable. The rear seat is particularly roomy, with a high seat cushion and excellent head and legroom. To take on cargo, the versatile 40/20/40-split rear seat can be folded. Maximum cargo space, at 67 cubic feet.
