Step 1. Order the Volvo of your choice from your local Volvo retailer.

There are a few steps you will need to take care of when ordering your Volvo at the dealership:

• You will fill out an order form, a Swedish Application for temporary registration, and a Power of Attorney form
• You will need to submit a $2,000 deposit.
• You will need to provide a photocopy of your Passport, and your Driver’s License.

Step 2. Pick up your new Volvo at the Gothenburg Factory Delivery Center or at any official delivery location in Europe.

When it’s time to take delivery of your new Volvo, you have the option of picking it up from the Gothenburg Factory Delivery Center or one of 11 other delivery centers located throughout Europe. Pick up your new Volvo from the Factory Delivery Center in Gothenburg and delivery is free of charge. Transportation to the delivery center is also provided free of charge, whether you are arriving from the airport, city center, the ferry terminal, or your hotel. Those vehicles picked up from other locations will incur additional costs.

Step 3. Test your Volvo out on the roads of Sweden, either with one of our spectacular tours or on your own.

Registration, insurance, servicing – it’s all taken care of. All you have to do is cross the t’s and dot the i’s.

When you leave Sweden for Denmark or the Continent, you can go on to the Stena Line ferries which are a comfortable and relaxing way to ease yourself into your European vacation. Or you can enjoy your new Volvo all the way to continental Europe by taking the Oresund Bridge.

Step 4. Drop off your Volvo in Gothenburg or any official drop-off location in Europe. We’ll ship it to your authorized Volvo retailer and take care of all the paperwork involved when importing a car, from excise taxes to import duties.

The Volvo Home Shipment Program makes bringing a car back from your Europe vacation quick and easy. All you have to do is drive your Volvo to any of the 20 official Home Shipment Agents throughout Europe and present us with the Volvo Home Shipment voucher (plus any other required documents). We then ship your Volvo to your U.S. retailer.
